Monday: Page Seven!July 27 through August 2
Making some progress with formatting the site. Learning CSS is good for me but there’s a learning curve too. I’ve always used Dreamweaver and with this site I have to go in and out of code to make changes. But I think I’m starting to get the hang of it and the site is starting to look ok. This weekend I made a new background and I’ve been formatting the menu bar. I even added some menu links… Such as an archive that I’m calling the BACK ISSUE BIN and a FIRST PAGE link. WOOT!

No updates this week.July 20 through July 26
Last week was a tough one for me. My thirteen year old dog passed away. He was an amazing friend, a happy little dog and I’ll miss him terribly.
I updated the site with page six but didn’t do a lot else.

Monday: News Update Tuesday: New Banner Wednesday: Bio Updates - MurielI may not be very good at making comics but I love doing it. I know I do cause I get so happy when I finish a page. I barely have free time to make comics but I just freaking love doing it. I’m always putting it to the side for a myriad of reasons. Mainly to go to work to pay bills and take care of my friends and family… But I never make dedicated time to do this because I feel like it’s just a hobby. If someone asks me to do something I’m afraid to say no to make my comics. I feel guilty. Cause in my brain I’m thinking maybe my comics are really bad! Maybe I suck and I shouldn’t put it before anything else or anyone else… but I think I’m going to change that especially after watching this video…
And I’m kind of in a crossroads right now. Almost a midlife crisis even though I’m not quite at the “mid” point yet. I will be moving from New York City to LA and I’m scared to find a new job. I caught this video watching the AC360 podcast at the gym and I almost started crying cause I was smiling so much. Then I did some research and looked up the guy who made the video, Matt Harding, on the web. I realize I may be the last person on Earth to see this— but good freaking God, this is so moving! Silly, simple and just wonderful watching human beings dance around all over the planet being people and not evil corporate killing machines.
Personally I’m so tired about hearing about the crumbling economy, what McCain thinks about viagra, nuclear tests and about awful cruel human behavior. I’m tired of feeling stuck in a meaningless, bleak world. But maybe if we were all a bit more courageous we could share with the world what it is we’re supposed to share with this world instead of suppressing it because we don’t make time to express ourselves.
Watch this second video and think about what you want to do with your life. If you ask me this guy is good at being inspirational. Follow your heart and do what you need to do to make your contributions count.
So far . . .
I have been really busy updating this site!
I created a favicon, developed a color scheme for the site, discovered .png files aren’t supported in crappy Internet Explorer, started creating a custom header and rewrote some pages for the comic itself. I still want to create a custom navigation menu and continue working on the header.
This week I will be making lots of updates!
Monday: Page 1
Tuesday: Pages 2 and 3 and a ‘Cast’ page
Wednesday: Page 4
Thursday: Page 5
Thanks for reading!
Again and again I find my self beginning to begin again.
I’m with you once moreSo here I go . . . I have retooled my website for “Nightswimming the Comic”. I was having trouble publishing using Blogger and discovered the wonderful ComicPress! So I switched and I’m positive this will be much better!
My goal is to finish the first issue of Nightswimming before the end of 2007. I will try to publish weekly. Right now I have five pages done and after the sixth page the updates will happen weekly. If they are faster, awesome! I’ll put pages up as fast as I can. But my realistic goal is one page per week. I will make regular announcements if I cannot publish a page during a week.
So what is this comic about? You could say it is a retooled version of “It’s A Wonderful Life” or a big personal experiment in storytelling. Either way it’s about supernatural characters searching for purpose in life. I’ve always been fascinated about the idea of angels helping people on earth and this is another story involving angels finding their way helping others find their way.
If you’ve just stumbled on this site, thanks for reading and as time goes on I hope my customization of ComicPress improves and you are able to enjoy the comics using this Blog format!
